Afya
Afya Amandla: (AHF-yah ah-MOND-lah) My first name is Afya and I am very proud of my name. It means 'health' in Arabic & Swahili. I've seen it spelled - Afya, Afia, Afiya, even Apphia (See Philemon 1:2 in the Bible). Amandla, means "Power" in the Xhosa language spoken in South Africa. I wish my mother had thought to give me this as a middle name. No such luck. :-)
