Angus
- A great Scottish name... and I love the shortform of Gus!
- Probably my favorite name of all time. It doesn't need any particular spelling adjustments, or any nicknames... It has more than a few meanings, and has a nice rhythm with any middle, or last name.
- underused, also masculine and very scottish.
- Angus Frederick: i really like this name, because, contrary to belief, it does not simply mean cow. it means "one strength" and is very scottish. a good nickname would be "gus" i like the name frederick because it goes well with ngus and it means "a peaceful ruler" so together the name would mean "a strong, peaceful ruler" a great name for any lad.
Angus is the anglicization most used in Scotland for the Gaelic name Ķengus/Aonghas/Aonghus. This old name comes from either words meaning "one" and "choice," or ones meaning "True vigor." It was the name of the Celtic god of both youth and love.
