Bronte
- (Brahn-tee) this is Greek for thunder and I think its a very elegant name.
Bronte Austen: I normally like old fashioned/traditional names, but Bronte is one of the few unusual names that I like, I think it is a beautiful feminine name and because of the Classic British writers the Bronte sisters has an old fashioned feel to it, I like it paired with Austen because of Classic British writer Jane Austen and I think the combination of Bronte Austen is unique, stylish and classy.
The father of the novelist sisters Brontė was actually born with the surname Prunty. He changed it to Brontė because it sounded better, and perhaps more exotic. Prunty is an anglicization of the Irish surname Ó Proinntigh. This means "descendant of Proinnteach." Proinnteach means "generous; gift-giver."
