Catherine

• This is my daughter's first name.  Again, I'm a sucker for old-fashioned sounding names with the added feature of being a family name from way back in the "old country".  We are trying are darndest to continue to call our daughter Catherine and not make her a "Cathy".. although I've never met a Cathy that I haven't liked.
• It's a classic name that exudes confidence and femininity.
• I like the C spelling the best.  A nice, timeless name for a girl.

• it's so elegant and refined. It has some great nicknames, like Cate. It's the name of a queen. It's a classic.
• Its old, yet is still used today, and is very elegant. Will be the name of my first born daughter
• This is such a gorgeous name. I really only like it with the 'C'- it seems sophisticated, intelligent, mysterious with the 'c'. It seems so French, too. Also very cold and icy I guess. An ice queen. Yet, I love it. I don't like Katherine and especially not Kathryn.

Catherine with a C is the French form of the ancient Greek name Aikaterina. This name is so old nobody is sure what its meaning is. Later on, it was taken by the Romans in the form of Katharina, who associated it with the Greek word katharos, meaning "pure."
