Courtney
- It's a nice sounding name, plus it's quite versatile. It is a great first, middle or last name; it works great for boys or girls (I think better for boys because it is less common); and there are some fun spellings. It's really old (Norman, I believe), and as of yet, has always flown right under the radar of too-oft-used names. Some alternate spellings include: Courtenay, Kortney, Cairtnaigh, Courtnee'. It speaks of sweetness for a young lass, and is just as distinguished for an older gentleman. And I believe it means "court-born" -- quite royal, or fair and just, depending on your view of the court. Courtney is a great alternative to the plethora of single-syllable, object-names (Ty, Matt, Jack, Mike, Pat, Chris) that are eternally popular, but it is still simple and honest. And of course there are some celebs who carry the name: Courtenay Cox (is she still an Arquette?), Courtney B. Vance, Courtney Love (gotta love her!), and Courteney Thorne-Smith.
- I really like this name because it's feminine, yet could still work for a tomboy or girly-girl. It's easy to say, and has a cute nickname. (Court)
- I like the lead singer of Hole
- delicate sweet and beautiful
- What a great name for a little baby! Very feminine and gentle sounding.
- Courtney Charisma: my strong willed 1 1/2 yr old's name, very unique, but quite beautiful. Also the name of a perfume.
