Kyra

• ( K eye Ra): I like this name because It is a very nice name and my mother likes it  
• Kyra Liana (pro. K-eye-ruh Lee-on-uh) because it's my oldest daughter's name.I got it from a romance novel and thought it sounded beautiful and feminine.
• Kyra Kathleen (Kyra prounouced with an "i" sound such as in "pier." ) Something old-fashioned, I suppose, but if I'd had a girl instead of a boy, this would have been the name I chose for a daughter. It has a melodic quality -- romantic enough for a heroine in a Victorian novel, endearing enough for a small girl with a head of curls, yet sophisticated enough for a mature business-minded woman.

Kyra comes from ancient Greek kyros whose meaning is unknown. It is often associated with the word kyrios, meaning "lord." It is the feminine form of Cyrus.
