Lourdes

• I like this name mainly for its history. Lourdes is a town in France where a girl of the same name began seeing visions of the Virgin Mary in her barn. Interesting, and the name is still very beautiful.

• My main reason for liking this name is because Madonna named her first born Lourdes. It is also a beautiful name that rolls of the tongue very nicely.

• Lourdes Soledad I happened to have liked this before Madonna named her daughter. It is a gorgeous name, and so feminine and really, quite timeless. Lourdes is such a holy place, a place that will always be sacred. Soledad, a Spanish name, means sun. What a lovely meaning- Lourdes Soledad: Miracles from God beneath the sun.

Soledad comes from the Spanish word meaning "solitude." It is used in Spanish-speaking countries in honor of Maria de Soledad ("Mary of Solitude"), one of the many appellations of the Virgin Mary. The word sol in Spanish means "sun," but soledad has no relation to it.
