Muire
{pronounced (Mwahr)}I was reading a book when I came across this name. I thought it was beautiful, romantic, and somewhat mysterious. I picture a tall, slender young woman with long, raven hair and dark eyes. I could picture a little girl, or an older woman too.
In Irish Gaelic, Muire is pronounced /MWIR eh/. It is the form of Mary reserved for the Virgin Mary. It is not used by the population at large; Máire is used for "regular" folks.
