Robert

• This is a big name in my family, it's my father's name and the name I hope to use one day for my son. It's very classic and distinguished sounding, a good name for an aristocrat or nobleman.
• (nickname Bobbie) My great uncle is named this, as well as my cousin. My uncle is a sweet, loving man and it is a great way to honor him.
• Again, the next Robert Munro has a reputation to live up to, but would be well equipped to live up to it with such a cool & classy name.  It got the attention of Mary Queen of Scots, back in the day...
• This is a strong family name. I didn't care for it as a kid, but just love it now. Perfect for little boys and grown men.
• Robert Joel: I prefer the name Joel to Robert but Joel Robert doesn't sound too good. My grandfather's name was Robert and I like the name Joel because it sounds great for a little boy but also for a man.

Robert comes from germanic roots meaning "bright" and "fame." It has been in use in the English-speaking world consistently since the middle ages.
