Selma

The only person I've heard of with this name, is the Swedish author/poet Selma Lagerlof. She wrote some beautiful poems, and must have been a gentle woman. I think the name has a gaelic origin, and it means "beautiful".

Selma was the name of Ossian's castle in James MacPherson's famous 18th century "Ossianic Poems." Where MacPherson got this name from is unknown.
