Ostara

A pagan fertility festival that is the precursor to Easter. Makes for a beautiful and unusual given name; could use Star as a nickname.

Ostara comes from a proto-Indo-European root meaning "to shine." In pre-Christian times, supposedly a month corresponding to April was dedicated to this goddess, hence the name Easter for the Christian holiday. However, not much is known about Ostara since this festival had died out by the 6th century, the earliest that we have mention of it.
