| FOR REAL: Owen is a modern form of the Welsh name Owain. This name could either be a form of the Latin name Eugenius, or it could be an older Celtic name meaning "born of Esos" (a Celtic god). Owen is also sometimes an anglicization of the Irish name Eoghan, which means "born of the yew."
